How to Report Fraud on Personal and Small Business Accounts

Contact us immediately if you suspect fraud or you responded to a suspicious email or text message. If you live or are traveling outside the U.S. call us toll-free from most countries. If you have already submitted a fraud claim, review these common questions.

If you suspect fraud on your commercial account, go to report commercial account fraud.

Checking account or card fraud

  • Suspicious or unauthorized debit or credit card purchases, or ATM withdrawals
  • Lost or stolen ATM, debit card, credit card, checks, or account numbers

If you suspect checking account or card fraud, immediately notify Wells Fargo by contacting us at one of the following numbers:

  • Personal accounts 1-800-869-3557 
  • Small Business accounts 1-800-225-5935
  • Credit card 1-800-642-4720
We accept all relay calls, including 711.

Wells Fargo Online® services

If you find suspicious or unauthorized activity with a Wells Fargo online service including:

Bill Pay, Zelle®, online transfers, and online wires, or online profile changes, call 1-866-867-5568.

Suspicious activity

Phishing email or text messages

If you received a suspicious email or text message and you:

  • Did respond by clicking on a link opening an attachment, or providing personal or account information, call us immediately at 1-866-867-5568.
  • Did not respond forward the suspicious email or send an email with the text message copy (no screenshots) to reportphish@wellsfargo.com. You will receive an automated response.

How long is the claims process?

We will work quickly to resolve your claim within 10 business days of submission. If we need more time, we'll apply a temporary credit to your account after 10 business days.
