The Wells Fargo Disaster Assistance Team can help

Has a natural disaster, storm, accident, or other event damaged your home or caused you financial hardship? Whether a widespread disaster or some other event has damaged your home, our disaster assistance team is here to help.

Property damage and disasters, big and small

We help customers with property damage and disasters – those that affect large numbers of people, as well as those that just affect your own home. If an incident such as a lightning strike, fire, or flood damages your home, we can assist with coordinating and processing your insurance claims and repairs.

Financial hardships and payment help

Disasters don’t only hit homes. A disaster can affect your financial situation as well as your home by damaging your workplace or causing a drop in your income. If you experience any financial hardship due to a disaster or property damage, we may be able to help with flexible mortgage and home equity payment options.

If you have property damage, contact your homeowner’s insurance company to report it

Next, call the Wells Fargo Disaster Assistance Team at 1-888-818-9147 (Mortgage) or 1-866-355-1540 (Home Equity). We’ll work with you and your insurance company to help you start your home repairs . We’ll also explain the loan payment flexibility that is available during the disaster relief period.

Disaster relief for loan payments

If you are impacted by a disaster that results in FEMA relief efforts being implemented and you have damage to your home, we provide disaster relief. During the FEMA relief period, we:

  • Don’t charge fees for late payments
  • Don’t send late payment notifications to credit bureaus
  • Offer enhanced loan payment options based on your situation
  • Provide certain foreclosure protections

We encourage you to continue your monthly payments according to your loan agreement. Keep in mind that any unpaid payments will become due at the end of the disaster relief.

Long-term recovery after disaster relief ends

If you’re still having financial difficulty at the end of the disaster relief, we may be able to extend relief with a loan modification or a repayment plan for up to 12 months.

No matter how significant your property damage – even with a complete loss of your home – we’ll work with you to review all of your options.
