Smart Start Banking Digital Experience Addendum to the Wells Fargo Online Access Agreement

Effective 11/16/2026

This Addendum ("Addendum") and the Wells Fargo Online Access Agreement ("OAA") contain the terms governing your use of Smart Start Digital (defined below). If we update this Addendum, we will update the Addendum on the Website. We will notify you of any changes or new features following the procedures specified in the OAA.

Please read this Addendum carefully. By using Smart Start Digital, you agree to the terms and conditions of this Addendum and the OAA, as amended from time to time. You acknowledge and agree that when you create a Smart Start Digital username and password for an Authorized User(s) the OAA and this Addendum apply to you and any Authorized User(s) and you hereby expressly accept the OAA and this Addendum on behalf of such Authorized User(s). Any deposit accounts used in conjunction with Smart Start Digital are subject to the applicable Deposit Account Agreement, the Fee & Information Schedule, and the Smart Start Banking Debit Card Terms & Conditions. In the event of any inconsistency between this Addendum and such agreements, this Addendum will control with respect to your use of Smart Start Digital.

Except as otherwise provided in this Addendum, terms defined in the OAA have the same meaning in this Addendum. In addition, in this Addendum:

  • "Authorized User" means each eligible individual for whom you have created a username and password to access and use the Wells Fargo Mobile® app with the linked Smart Start Deposit Account.
  • "Money Movement Account" is an eligible Wells Fargo checking account selected by you and used to add funds to the Smart Start Banking deposit account for all funding needs including allowance, chores, and requests from Authorized Users.
  • "Categories" means the different spend controls within Smart Start Digital by which funds may be segregated and categorized for various purposes, as further detailed below.
  • "Account Owner" is the individual who opens and is responsible for the Smart Start Banking deposit account and debit card and may be referred to as "you" or "your" in this Addendum and does not include the Authorized User.
  • "Smart Start Digital" means the Online Financial Service available for specific deposit accounts, as determined by us, and includes the capabilities available to the Account Owner and Authorized User through the Wells Fargo Mobile® app.
  • "Smart Start Banking" means the deposit account opened by you for use with Smart Start Digital.
  • "Debit Card" means the Smart Start Banking debit card that we issue to you in the name of the Authorized User.
  • "We," "us," "our" and "Wells Fargo" means Wells Fargo Bank, N.A. and any of its affiliates or direct or indirect subsidiaries, involved in the provision of Smart Start Banking.

Smart Start Digital is available to the Account Owner and the Authorized User. Smart Start Digital includes capabilities to help you manage and control the spending activities of an Authorized User and provide family financial learning opportunities through educational games and learning content. Capabilities include, but are not limited to, money movement control using Categories in the Smart Start Banking account and the linked Debit Card, transaction limits, and allowance and payment for chores settings.

Smart Start Digital does not provide legal, tax, or financial advice. We reserve the right, unless otherwise required by applicable law or regulation, to change, modify, add to, discontinue, terminate, or retire Smart Start Digital and/or any aspect, capability, function, or feature at any time.

If you create, or modify, username or password for an Authorized User to access Smart Start Digital, you agree that you are responsible for any and all actions by the Authorized User. Any and all transactions initiated by or authorized by an Authorized User are deemed to be authorized by you. The Authorized User must maintain the confidentiality of the applicable username, password, or other sign-on credentials, including biometrics.

An Authorized User cannot use your username and password for any other Service and must use their own username and password only to access Smart Start Digital.

(i) You are required to maintain an eligible deposit account for Smart Start Digital and Smart Start Banking account access. If your Money Movement Account closes and an eligible replacement deposit account is not selected, transfers, chores, and allowance payments into your Smart Start Banking account may fail. If you no longer have an eligible deposit account with Wells Fargo, your Smart Start Banking account will be closed.

(ii) As Account Owner, you can (a) manage spend controls; (b) view balance and transaction history; (c) add funds to Categories; (d) move funds between Categories; (e) set and modify recurring allowances payments; and (f) modify access for the Authorized User. Statements we generate are the official record of account transactions, positions, and balances; the information you view within Smart Start Digital is for tracking purposes only and should not be considered an official record.

(iii) Authorized Users can (a) view balances and transaction history; (b) request funds from you or to move funds between certain Categories; and (c) move funds between certain Categories, which may require your approval.

(i) Spend. Money deposited into this Category can only be accessed by the Debit Card. Additional spend controls are available in Spend for you to create sub-categories by either selecting a specific merchant or using the default sub-categories. Wells Fargo does not have the ability to control or revise how a merchant classifies their business. Funds deposited from an external source will, by default, be placed in the “Spend Anywhere” sub-category and you can manage this setting. You determine how the Authorized User may move funds between spend controls within Spend or to other Categories from Spend.

(ii) Save. You may transfer funds to Save from the Money Movement Account or other Categories and only you can transfer funds out of Save. The Authorized User may transfer funds from Spend to Save. You determine if the Authorized User must send a request to you for transfers out of Save or whether transfers can be made from Save without your permission. The Smart Start Banking account, including all funds in any Category, is non-interest bearing from Wells Fargo.

(a) Savings goals. You or the Authorized User can set up savings goals within Save. Smart Start Digital will show progress toward the savings goal as you or the Authorized User transfer funds into that savings goal.

(b) Parent-paid interest on Save funds. You may turn on the option to pay interest to the Authorized User from your Money Movement Account with an automatic transfer to Save each month. The amount, a percentage you choose and based on the average daily savings from the previous month, transfers automatically on the first of the month. Parent-paid interest is not “interest” in any legal sense, and such term is merely used to promote financial literacy, encourage savings, and refer to a financial reward that you may choose to provide to an Authorized User. Wells Fargo does not pay interest for funds in the Smart Start Banking account.

(iii) Give. Money deposited to Give is intended for charitable giving purposes. If the Authorized User transfers available Spend funds into the Give, only you can transfer funds out to Spend, and the Authorized User can transfer to Save without your approval.

You can set an Authorized User’s allowance, individual or recurring chores, or tie an allowance to chores.

(i) Recurring Allowance. You schedule from the Money Movement Account, establish the frequency, and determine where to transfer the allowance payment, including splitting the amount between Categories by percentage or dollar amount. You can pause recurring allowance for a certain period or indefinitely.

(ii) Chores Management. You can select from a pre-filled list of chores or create your own chores for Authorized User(s), set the frequency for chores completion, tie completion to receipt of allowance, and track completion through weekly reminders. If allowance is linked to chores, the amount paid will be based on completion of chores and selected by you as either (a) all or none or (b) calculated on the percentage of chores completed.

We may automatically send Authorized Users push notifications to any Mobile Device to which an Authorized User has used username and password to log in to Smart Start Digital. These push notifications may include information about the Debit Card, transaction activity, money requests, or allowances and chores. You may turn off push notifications for each subscribed alert in your profile from Wells Fargo Online® or the Wells Fargo Mobile® app. The Authorized User may turn off push notifications on the device used to access Smart Start Digital.

You will receive near real-time notifications, based on your communication preferences, whenever an Authorized User uses the Debit Card to complete a point-of-sale transaction or an ATM transaction.

  • Debit Card. The Authorized User may turn the Debit Card on or off within Smart Start Digital. If you turn the Debit Card off, the Authorized User cannot turn it back on. When the card is turned on or off, you and the Authorized User will be notified.
  • Username and password. You may change the Authorized User’s username and password within the Mobile app. An Authorized User is unable to modify or change this information within Smart Start Digital.
  • Biometrics. The Authorized User may use biometric sign-on if set up on the device used to access Smart Start Digital and has control to turn the biometric setting on or off.

You represent and warrant that any identifying information submitted by you regarding the Authorized User is true, accurate, and complete. We are not required to verify this information. We reserve the right to request such information at any time while the Smart Start Banking account remains open.

In addition to the termination rights in the OAA, if your Smart Start Banking account closes or is restricted for any reason, we may, subject to applicable law, terminate or suspend access to Smart Start Digital for you and any related Authorized User without prior notification.
