Grant Guidelines
The McInnes Foundation primarily supports animal welfare and children’s health in the state of Colorado.
Requirements
- To be eligible, organizations must qualify as exempt organizations under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.
- Applications must be submitted through the online grant application form or alternative accessible application designed for assistive technology users.
- If grant application is declined, grant seeker must wait until the following calendar year to submit a new request.
Limitations
The foundation typically does not fund requests for:
- Capital improvements
- Multi-year commitments
Grantmaking priorities
The Foundation will only fund to organizations with a proven track record.
Average giving
Average grant size: $20,000 to $35,000
Average number of grants per year: 15-20
Average total giving per year: $400,000
Annual application period and deadlines
Applications are accepted year-round. Applications must be submitted by March 31st and September 30th to be reviewed at the semiannual grant meetings that occur in late April and October.
Communications
Applicants will receive an automated email confirming their submission. Grant decisions are generally communicated by May and November for applications received by the deadlines.
Required agreements and reports
Periodic progress reports and final reports may be required for funded projects.

The Sally Brown McInnes and John “Mac” McInnes Charitable Trust was created by Sarajane “Sally”Brown McInnes. Mr. and Mrs. McInnes were residents of Colorado and were passionate about providing for the welfare of animals and children’s health and overall well-being. Mr. and Mrs. McInnes were also supporters of organizations serving Veterans, Native Americans, environment, arts, religion, and national treasures.Mission
