The net income of the Trust shall be distributed annually or, in the discretion of the Trustee, at more frequent intervals to any Liberal Arts Colleges (namely, those colleges offering liberal arts courses leading to a Bachelor of Arts Degree and which are duly accredited by regular and established accreditation bodies or organizations) selected by the Trustee located in Florida, New Hampshire, Texas or Ohio; PROVIDED, HOWEVER, that no part of the income from said Trust shall be delivered or paid over to any college which is operated for the profit of or whose income inures to the benefit of any private individual or private corporation or which is supported in whole or in part by Government taxation.

Requirements

  • To be eligible, organizations must qualify as exempt organizations under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.

Limitations

  • Distributions are limited to Liberal Arts Colleges (namely, those colleges offering liberal arts courses leading to a Bachelor of Arts degree and which are duly accredited by regular and established accreditation bodies or organizations) located in Florida, New Hampshire, Texas, or Ohio.
  • A liberal arts college is a four-year undergraduate institution that emphasizes degrees in the liberal arts fields of study, including the arts, humanities, sciences, and social sciences.
  • No distributions to colleges operated for the profit of or whose income inures to the benefit of any private individual or private corporation.

Annual application period and deadlines

Applications are accepted year-round. Applications must be submitted by April 15 to be reviewed at the annual grant meeting.

Communications

Applicants will receive an email confirming their submission. Grant decisions are generally communicated by year-end for applications received by the deadline.

Required agreements and reports

Except as otherwise specified when a grant is awarded, a progress report must be submitted after six months and no more than eight months of receiving funds.

About the Foundation

The Beulah Kahler College Trust was created by a Trust Agreement dated February 29, 1960. The Trust was established to support Liberal Arts Colleges that provide liberal arts courses leading to a Bachelor of Arts Degree.
