Find the net price calculator on your school’s website, and consider the results. If there’s a gap between your estimated total cost and your aid award, that gap represents your additional out-of-pocket expenses. If the school’s estimated financial aid award will cover your costs, use the timeline in Step 5 to know your due dates. Hello once again, it's me, Mr. Fellows, your favorite College Advisor.
Today Monty and I are very excited to tell you all about Step number 3.
Isn't that right, Monty?
Anyways, if grants...scholarships, institutional awards...Federal Work Study, and Federal Loans covers all your college-related expenses, then that's great! You're all set.
But...
you might have additional costs not covered by your financial aid and...well...that's okay.

Here’s how you can calculate your additional costs.

One. Add up the total cost for each school you’re considering. Costs include things like tuition, room & board, and other projected costs like a computer, books, transportation, or a cellphone…

Two. Subtract the funding you’ll receive based on the financial aid in your award letter. Funding includes things like grants, and scholarships.

Three. See how much additional funding you’ll need.

If it turns out that you need extra funding…

I'll help you explore these other financing options with... Steps 4 and 5...
Ah!...
Whew!...
Ahh!...
Yes! It's working out.
Whooh!...
And...that is that! Ahh!
And remember what I always say...with college comes great knowledge. Take care!
