How Wells Fargo protects you

Your account security is our top priority

  • 24/7 fraud monitoring: Wells Fargo continuously monitors your accounts and may contact you if we detect unusual activity.
  • Encryption and browser requirements: Wells Fargo Online® and Wells Fargo Mobile® sessions are encrypted to help protect your accounts. We only support browsers that adhere to our security standards and may block outdated browsers that present potential security risks.
  • Automatic sign off: Wells Fargo will automatically sign you off your online or mobile banking session after a period of inactivity. This reduces the risk of others accessing your information from your unattended computer or mobile device.
  • AI-powered cybersecurity: Wells Fargo experts deploy the latest tools and technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML), to enhance our cybersecurity capabilities to help protect your data and accounts.
  • Zero Liability protection: We offer Zero Liability protection with Wells Fargo debit and credit cards at no extra cost. You will not be held responsible for promptly reported unauthorized card transactions. To learn more about reporting requirements and timeframes, please refer to your Deposit Account Agreement.
  • Unique username and password: When you enroll in Wells Fargo Online® or Wells Fargo Vantage® we require that you use a unique username or user ID and password to access your accounts. This information is encrypted during sign-on.

    • Remember: Wells Fargo customer service may request your username or user ID to verify your identity, but we will not ask for your password.
  • Sign-on options: We offer multiple sign-on options, including 2-step verification and biometric sign-on. To learn more, visit How to set up two-step verification or How you can protect yourself. If you are a commercial or corporate client, visit Wells Fargo Vantage®.
  • Advanced Access: Advanced Access is an additional layer of security that helps protect your information and prevent unauthorized transactions. We may require you to provide an access code to confirm your identity when you sign-on, complete certain types of transactions, or attempt to access sensitive information online.
  • Security is part of everything we do at Wells Fargo. From our leaders to the employees who use our systems, we work together to help protect your accounts and information so you can bank with confidence.
  • You play an important role in keeping your accounts safe. Don’t forget to sign-up for account alerts, enable two-step verification for your accounts, and stay vigilant.
