Wells Fargo Housing Foundation Reaches Milestone with Completion of 1,000th Home
Des Moines — October 12, 2000
In just seven years, the Wells Fargo Housing Foundation has provided donations to support team member efforts to renovate or construct 1,000 homes for low-income families across the country. The foundation will celebrate this milestone achievement Oct. 14 - Oct. 21, while the 1,000th home is under construction in Bryan, Texas.
"Completing 1,000 projects over a seven-year period is a significant achievement for the foundation," said Kimberly Jackson, executive director, Wells Fargo Housing Foundation. "Our team members have really put their hearts and souls into this initiative, and that has made all the difference."
The Wells Fargo Housing Foundation was founded in 1993 to assist in the development of affordable housing across the country. The foundation is committed to programs that increase home ownership opportunities for low-income families, as well as programs that address the shelter needs of the transitionally homeless.
"Completing our 1,000th home demonstrates our commitment to increasing home ownership opportunities for families," Jackson said. "We've made a great deal of progress in a short amount of time, and we're looking forward to doing even more in the future."
The Wells Fargo Housing Foundation is a Cornerstone Partner of Habitat for Humanity, the highest sponsorship level a donor can achieve. The foundation committed $16.5 million to Habitat for Humanity's "Rebuilding Our Communities" campaign, one of the largest contributions ever provided to Habitat for Humanity in its 20-year history. The campaign will produce 50,000 homes over a five-year period. The Wells Fargo Housing Foundation is also a sponsor of the annual Jimmy Carter Work Project and the First Ladies Build.
In addition to partnering with Habitat for Humanity, the Wells Fargo Housing Foundation sponsors HomeAid America, an organization that strives to eliminate homelessness, and NeighborWorks, a network of organizations revitalizing declining neighborhoods.
Founded in 1993, the Wells Fargo Housing Foundation was created to provide permanent solutions to affordable housing needs in Wells Fargo communities nationwide. The foundation, which is supported by Wells Fargo Home Mortgage, is staffed and managed primarily by Wells Fargo employees who have volunteered their time to this important cause.
