The safety and security of your account information is of the highest importance.

As a security measure, you may receive a “verification required” message when adding your card to Google Pay. Once verified, an on-screen message will appear stating that the card is ready for use. This verification is part of our multi-layered approach to security in payments.

Additionally, when we review mobile wallet providers we look for payment safety, quality of service, and ease of use for our customers. When you make payments with Google Pay and your Wells Fargo card:

If you locate your device, you will need to add your card back to Google Pay before making any Google Pay purchases.

Where can I find more information about Google Pay?

To learn more about Google Pay, please visit the Google Pay site.

Why is the transaction amount in my Google Pay transaction history different from what’s in my Wells Fargo Online® or Wells Fargo Mobile® account detail?

If you make a Google Pay purchase with your card, the merchant may request authorization for an initial amount and send us the actual transaction amount later for payment. The initial authorized amount appears in your Google Pay transaction history, but the actual transaction amount is deducted from your account.

This happens frequently in places where:

  • You can add a tip (restaurants, salons)
  • There can be a significant difference between the amount that's authorized initially and the actual transaction amount (hotels, car rental agencies)

For most card purchases, we receive the payment request, including the actual transaction amount, within 3 business days of the transaction.

Keep track of your transactions and ensure you have sufficient funds in your accounts to cover the final payment.

Where can I view transaction history made with Google Pay?

On Android phone:

  1. Open the Google Pay app
  2. Touch the card you used to pay
  3. Find and tap your transaction

On Android smartwatch:

  1. On your smartwatch, open the Google Pay app
  2. Tap a card
  3. Swipe up on the card to view your transaction
Near Field Communication (NFC) is a technology that enables devices in close proximity to communicate; this technology is used to allow NFC enabled mobile device to communicate with a payment system used by millions of merchants.
