Trading Options
An option is a contract that gives you the right to buy or sell a security at a pre-determined price within a stated period of time. Options are primarily used to either protect securities you already own against a market decline, or speculate on the future movement of the market value of a security. Options are complex securities that carry a high degree of risk so they are best suited for more sophisticated investors.

To trade options through Wells Fargo Advisors you must first open a brokerage account then apply for an option account and, for certain options trades, a margin account as well. Accounts are approved on a case-by-case basis, based on your financial resources and investing history. Select a brokerage account.
Please note:
Option trading involves risk and is not suitable for all investors. Before buying or selling an option, you must receive a copy of Characteristics and Risks of Standardized Options published by the Chicago Board Options Exchange. You should review this document carefully.
