ATM Access Code Questions

How do I request an ATM Access Code on my device?

Open the Wells Fargo Mobile® app, go to the menu icon, select Account Services, then Card-Free ATM Access, and tap the Request Code button. You will receive a code that you can use at any Wells Fargo ATM.

Can I share my code with others?

No. Codes are for your use only. You may put your account at risk if you share your code or card PIN with others.

When does my code expire?

Your code expires after 30 minutes.

What types of transactions and how many transactions can I make with my code?

Once you enter your code and card Personal Identification Number (PIN), you can perform one monetary transaction (such as a cash withdrawal), or one non-monetary transaction (such as a balance inquiry) before your one monetary transaction. Also, ATM withdrawal amounts are subject to your account balance and the current ATM daily dollar cash withdrawal limits for your Wells Fargo Debit, ATM, or Prepaid Card.

Can I use my code at any ATM?

You can use your code at any Wells Fargo ATM. Some ATMs are located within secure locations that may require customers to swipe their cards for entry.

Do I have to enroll to use the ATM Access Code feature?

You don’t need to enroll to use the feature. However, you may be asked to register your device through our Advanced Access service the first time you request an ATM Access Code. To get started, sign on to the Wells Fargo Mobile app and select Card-Free ATM at the bottom of the Account Summary page.

Is there a fee to use the ATM Access Code feature?

No. Wells Fargo doesn’t charge a fee for ATM Access Code. However, if you receive your code via text, your mobile carrier's message and data rates may apply.

How do I add or update my mobile number on file, so that I can receive a code via text?

You can update your mobile phone number using the Wells Fargo Mobile app or Wells Fargo Online®. Visiting a Wells Fargo branch may be the fastest way to update your mobile number. You can also call us at 1-800-956-4442 and let us know you’re trying to get an ATM Access Code.

What if I suspect an unauthorized transaction?

Call us immediately at 1-800-869-3557 if an unauthorized transaction appears in your account activity.

Will I get a receipt for transactions made with an ATM Access Code?

Yes. You can choose to print a receipt, or send it to your personal email address, to your wellsfargo.com secure inbox, or via text to your mobile number.

How can I keep my code safe?

Treat your code as you would any other password. Keep it confidential and out of sight.

Where do I enter my code at the ATM?

Select Use an Access Code on the lower right of the ATM welcome screen. When prompted, enter your code and then the PIN for your debit, ATM, or prepaid card.

Why is only one account listed on the Request an ATM Access Code screen in the Wells Fargo Mobile app?

Your primary account linked to your card and available balance are listed to help you when you request an ATM Access Code. When you use the code at the ATM, you’ll have access to any one of the checking and savings accounts linked to the card you choose.

Which accounts are listed on the ATM screen after I enter my ATM Access Code?

Once you enter your ATM Access Code and card PIN, you’ll see the checking and savings accounts that are linked to the card you selected when you requested an ATM Access Code in the Wells Fargo Mobile app.

Why aren’t all of my accounts that appear in the Wells Fargo Mobile app listed on the ATM screen?

Your checking or savings account must be linked to your debit, ATM, or prepaid card to be displayed for access on the ATM screen after you enter your ATM Access Code.

Why aren’t all of my debit, ATM, and prepaid cards listed when I request an ATM Access Code in the Wells Fargo Mobile app?

If one of your cards isn’t listed, you’ll need to establish access to the primary checking or savings account through Wells Fargo Online to make it available for ATM Access Code. Simply enroll in Wells Fargo Online, or if already enrolled, just sign on to add online account access. You can also establish access to your accounts by calling 1-800-869-3557 or visiting a Wells Fargo branch.
