Advanced Access Questions

General questions

What is Advanced Access?

Advanced Access is a service that gives you an additional layer of security to better protect your information and help prevent unauthorized transactions.

When will I need Advanced Access?

To protect your personal information and guard against unauthorized access to your accounts, we may require a code when you:

  • Access certain Wells Fargo accounts or services.
  • Send money to another person that you haven’t transferred money to before, or receive money from a non-Wells Fargo account that you haven’t used before.

How does Advanced Access protect me?

Advanced Access is another way we verify your identity. By asking you to receive a code on your phone, we help prevent anyone other than you from accessing your sensitive information.

What if I need an Advanced Access code, but don’t have access to the devices I typically use to receive a code?

Call us at 1-866-609-3037 for help. If you are calling from outside the United States, please use one of our toll-free international access codes.

How can I get an Advanced Access code if I’m traveling outside the U.S.?

Receiving your Advanced Access code through push notification to your Wells Fargo Mobile® app may be available to you as an option if you’re traveling internationally. You can also call us toll-free from most countries outside the U.S. We’ll verify your identity and give you the help you need.

What if I’m locked out of Advanced Access?

Call us at 1-866-609-3037 for help.

How will I know the phone call with my Advanced Access code is really coming from Wells Fargo?

Incoming calls with an Advanced Access code will come from 1-866-609-3037. We recommend adding this number to your phone’s address book so you can quickly identify our calls.

We'll also describe what you are doing when we provide your code. For example, we'll tell you that the code is for completing your transfer. That way, you can confirm that we’re responding to your specific request.

How will I know the text message with my code is really coming from Wells Fargo?

We send our Advanced Access text messages from 93557 and 93733. We recommend that you add these numbers to your phone’s address book so you’ll be able to easily identify our text messages.

Can I use an RSA SecurID device with Advanced Access?

If you have an RSA SecurID device from Wells Fargo, we'll give you the option to use a code from your device when Advanced Access is required.

What is an RSA SecurID device and how does it work?

An RSA SecurID device is a small, portable, electronic device that can be attached easily to a keychain. Every 60 seconds the device generates and displays a unique, random numeric passcode. You can request a new device for a one-time non-refundable charge of $25, which includes shipping and handling. Log into online banking at WellsFargo.com to place your order. There are no costs or fees associated with the replacement of an RSA SecurID device.
