What is Zelle?

When you register for this service, we establish a connection between your Wells Fargo checking, prepaid, or savings account and your email address or mobile number. You can send money to anyone with an eligible U.S. deposit account using their email address or mobile number. You can also receive money using your email address or mobile number.

Who can I send money to?

You can send money to recipients who have eligible checking or savings accounts at any U.S. financial institution.

Is it secure to access Wells Fargo Online®?

Yes. Our Online Security Guarantee provides protection in the unlikely event that an unauthorized user accesses your accounts and initiates transactions using Wells Fargo Online or Wells Fargo Mobile®.

Is there a fee?

Currently, there is no fee for this service. However, when using Zelle on a mobile device, your mobile carrier’s message and data rates may apply.

How much money can I send with Zelle?

For your security, we restrict the amount of money you can send to recipients. This amount will vary based on your funding account, your recipient, and the transaction history for each recipient.

There are also daily and 30-day send limits. The daily send limit is $2,500. The 30-day send limit (the maximum amount you can send over a period of time going back 30 days) is $4,000. These limits apply only to Zelle transactions when initiated from Wells Fargo Online® or Wells Fargo Mobile®.

Transactions initiated from the separate Zelle transfer service website or mobile app are governed by Zelle’s separate transfer service agreements and may be subject to lower limits. These limits may be adjusted from time-to-time, but in general, will not be lower than $300 per week. For more information about Zelle’s separate transfer service, visit zellepay.com.

What does register mean?

When you register your email address or mobile number, you are establishing the connection between the email address or mobile number and your bank account where your funds will be deposited.

How does it work?

Send money in 4 easy steps:

  1. Set up and send
    Choose your recipient, the amount, and your funding account. Then review and send your payment.
  2. Recipient is notified
    Your recipient receives an email or text message with instructions on how to receive the money.
  3. Recipient registers
    If your recipient is not registered, they’ll need to. It’s a one-time setup using their email or mobile number, whichever you used to send the payment.
  4. Money deposited
    The money is deposited into your recipient’s account, often within minutes, depending on where they bank*.
    * If your recipient uses a bank where delivery can’t be made within minutes, it may take up to 2 business days for your payment to be delivered.

How do I use Zelle to send and receive money?

Before you can use Zelle, you must enroll and register an email address or mobile phone number.

  1. Sign on to wellsfargo.com or the Wells Fargo app.
  2. Select Send Money with ZelleSM under Transfer and Pay.
  3. Follow the steps to enroll and get started.

How do I receive money?

When someone sends you money, you will be notified through the email address the sender used to send you money. If this email address has not yet been registered, you must register it to receive the funds. Your mobile number will not be eligible to receive transfers until it is registered with Zelle.

How do I request money with Zelle?

You can request money with the Wells Fargo mobile browser or app on your iPhone or Android smartphone. To send a request for money, select Request on the Send Money with ZelleSM home screen. From there, select a recipient (the person who will receive your request) from your list or select “+” to add a new recipient. Next, enter the amount of your request, review it, and select Send.
