What is my routing number?

Also known as a banking routing number, routing transit number, RTN, or ABA, routing numbers differ for Wells Fargo Checking and Savings accounts, Credit Cards, Lines of Credit, and wire transfers. Find your routing number.

How do I transfer funds?

You can transfer funds online, with your mobile device, by phone at 1-800-TO-WELLS (1-800-869-3557), or at any Wells Fargo store or ATM*.

*ATM access to a home equity line of credit account is not available in Texas or New York.

How do I transfer funds between my accounts online?

To transfer funds between your accounts:

  • Sign on to Wells Fargo Online® with your username and password and select the Transfers tab.
  • Choose the account you want to transfer money from, the account you want the money transferred to, the frequency of transfers, the date you would like the transfer to occur, and the amount that you would like to have transferred.
  • Click the Continue button.
  • Review the information you have entered on the Verify page. If it is correct, click Submit to submit your transfer.

How do I transfer funds between my accounts with my mobile device?

  • Sign on to wf.com or our Mobile Banking app with your online username and password.
  • From the Menu select Transfers & WF Payments 
  • Choose the account you want to transfer money from, the account you want the money transferred to, the date you want the transfer to occur, if the option is available, and the amount you want to transfer.
  • Click the Continue button.
  • Review the information you entered on the Transfer Verification page. If it is correct, click Transfer to submit your request.

Can I transfer funds to or from my accounts at another institution?

You can transfer money between your Wells Fargo checking and savings accounts and accounts you may have at other U.S. financial institutions. Wells Fargo gives you greater flexibility, convenience, and control to transfer funds where and when you need it. Sign on to Wells Fargo Online and click the Transfers tab to learn more about transferring funds to your account at another financial institution.

How long does it take to transfer funds between my accounts at Wells Fargo and other financial institutions?

Initially the delivery speed is 3 business days.

Depending on your history of transfer activity, expedited transfer options may be available to you.

How do I set up a future-dated transfer?

To transfer funds on a future date between your eligible Wells Fargo accounts** online:

  • Sign on to Wells Fargo Online and select the Transfers tab.
  • Choose the account you want to transfer money from, the account you want the money transferred to, the date on which you want the transfer to occur, and the amount that you want to transfer.
  • Click the Continue button.
  • Review the information you have entered. If it is correct, click Submit to submit your transfer.

** For future-dated transfers, eligible accounts include: checking, savings, money market, retirement savings, personal and home equity lines of credit and loan accounts, credit card accounts, auto loan and mortgage loan accounts.

How do I set up a recurring transfer?

To set up recurring transfer between your eligible Wells Fargo accounts***:


  • Sign on to Wells Fargo Online with your username and password and select the Transfers tab. 
  • On the Transfer and Make Payments page, select the account you want to transfer money from
  • Select the account you want the money transferred to
  • When available, select from the Frequency drop down list or the ‘Set up recurring payments’ link. Note, options vary depending on the type of accounts you are moving money between
  • Use the calendar icon to choose date(s) for the transfers. 
  • Select or enter the amount that you would like to have transferred
  • The Description field is optional. Any notes you enter will be displayed in your transaction history online, and on your bank statement
  • Click the Continue button. 
  • Review the information you have entered on the Verify page. If it is correct, click Submit to submit your transfer.

About recurring transfers:

  • If a transfer date falls on a weekend or holiday, we will credit the transfer to your account on the next business day.
  • You can change or delete most recurring transfers by selecting the Transfers tab and clicking the View/Edit link in the action column of the transfer you want to change.
  • We do not offer the ability to set up recurring transfers between Wells Fargo customers.

*** For recurring transfers, eligible accounts include: checking, savings, money market, retirement savings, brokerage, personal and home equity line of credit, loan accounts, credit card accounts, auto loan and mortgage loan accounts.

How do I change or delete a recurring transfer?

To change or delete a recurring transfer, sign on to Wells Fargo Online and select the Transfers tab. Find your recurring transfer in the Scheduled Transfers & Payments table at the bottom of the page. Click on View/Edit or View/ Delete in the Action column. This will allow you to change or delete the transfer.

You can also visit any Wells Fargo store or call us to change or delete a recurring transfer.

  • For checking or savings account transfers, call 1-800-869-3557.
  • For brokerage account transfers, call 1-800-872-3377.

When will my transfer be credited to my account?

Transfers between Wells Fargo Deposit Accounts

Funds transferred to your Wells Fargo prepaid and deposit accounts (and Command accounts) will be available immediately for purchases and withdrawals.  The funds are also used in our next nightly processing of deposits and withdrawals.

Our nightly processing occurs on business days.  Transfers completed on non-business days will be available at the next nightly processing.  Transfers completed before 8pm Pacific Time on a business day will be available that day.  Transfers completed after 8pm Pacific Time on a business day will appear as “pending,” but will be available to pay your transactions that night as long as they are completed prior to our nightly processing (which generally occurs just after midnight, Pacific Time).  


Transfers between Wells Fargo and Non-Wells Fargo Deposit Accounts

Transfers between your Wells Fargo deposit account (including Command accounts) and Non-Wells Fargo accounts will be initiated on the Send On date you selected and completed after the number of business days you selected for Delivery Speed. 


Same day transfers to Wells Fargo accounts

A Send Now transfer to a Wells Fargo account will transfer funds to your account immediately. You cannot cancel a Send Now transaction once you submit it. 


For future-dated and recurring transfers

Scheduled transfers are typically credited and posted on the date you select.  However, if your transfer date falls on a weekend or holiday, we will credit the transfer to your account on the date you selected but post it on the next business day. You have until 11:59PM Pacific Time on the day before the scheduled transfer date to delete it.

Transfers with a brokerage account are typically completed within one to three business days.

Transfers between your Wells Fargo and non-Wells Fargo accounts will be initiated on the Send On date and completed after the number of business days you select for Delivery Speed.

When will my payment be credited to my account?

Payments to Wells Fargo Credit Accounts

A payment dated today to a Wells Fargo credit account will take effect the same day you submit it, according to the cutoff times in the table below for each type of account. You cannot cancel a payment dated today once you submit it.

A payment scheduled for a future date will take effect on the scheduled transaction date you selected. You have until 11:59 PM Pacific Time on the day before the scheduled payment date to delete it.

For transfers to your credit card

  • Your transfer will show up immediately in the checking or savings account you transferred money from, but it will take two to three business days to update your outstanding credit card balance and history. Your transfer will be credited as a payment to your credit card account and back-dated to reflect the date of your request. 
  • If you need immediate credit for a transfer, please call credit card Customer Service at 1-800-642-4720, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Transfers to Another Person

How do I send money to another person online?

With our Wells Fargo SurePaySMservice, Wells Fargo and Bank of America customers can send money to each other using just an email address or mobile number. You can also send money to recipients with an eligible checking or savings account at any U.S. financial institution.

If you want to send money to other Wells Fargo customers, you have three ways to send it. You can use the recipient's email address, mobile number, or Wells Fargo account number.

To send money online

  1. Sign on to Wells Fargo Online with your username and password.
  2. Select the Transfers tab, then WF SurePay.
  3. Follow the steps to enroll and get started.

To send money using a mobile device

  1. Sign on to wf.com or our Mobile Banking app with your Wells Fargo Online username and password.
  2. From the Mobile Banking Menu select WF SurePay.
  3. Follow the steps to enroll and get started.

How long does it take for a recipient to receive my transfer?

The delivery speed options available to you depend on whether your recipient's account is at Wells Fargo or another financial institution, and whether your recipient is unqualified or qualified.

* The delivery speed begins on the transfer date. Unregistered recipients must register the email address or mobile number used for this transfer (within 14 calendar days) before they can receive the funds. Recipients with non-Wells Fargo accounts may also be required by their financial institution to manually accept each transfer.

How do I receive money from another person?

When you register for our Wells Fargo SurePay service we establish a connection between your Wells Fargo checking or savings account and your email address or mobile number. Customers of Wells Fargo and Bank of America can use this simple information - rather than your account number - to send you money. You will receive a notification when someone sends you money.

To receive the funds, this email address or mobile number must be registered:

  1. Sign on to Wells Fargo Online with your username and password.
  2. Select the Transfers tab, then WF SurePay. Follow the steps to enroll and get started.
  3. Select Receive Money and register the email address or mobile number that was used by the sender to send money.

To receive money using a mobile device: 

  1. Sign on to wf.com or our Mobile Banking app with your Wells Fargo Online username and password.
  2. From the Mobile Banking Menu select WF SurePay
  3. Select Receive Money and register the email address or mobile number that was used by the sender to send money.

You only need to register this information once. We recommend that you register up to three email addresses and two mobile numbers to ensure timely receipt of your funds.

Transfers to a Foreign Country

How do I transfer money to someone in another country?

With the Wells Fargo ExpressSend® service, you can easily send money to your family and friends in Mexico and 12 other countries in Central America and the Caribbean Islands, South America and Asia.

You can also transfer funds outside of the United States with a foreign currency wire transfer. To complete a wire transfer, you will need to visit a Wells Fargo location. We cannot accept wire instructions through email or fax because your signature is required and must be witnessed by a representative of the bank.

How do I transfer funds between my brokerage accounts?

To transfer funds online to or from your brokerage accounts:

  1. Sign on to Wells Fargo Online and select the Transfers tab.
  2. Choose whether the transfer is to or from a brokerage account, the linked bank account the transfer is to or from, and the amount and frequency of the transfer. Verify the listed email address and review the on-screen important notes regarding brokerage transfers.
  3. Click the Continue button.
  4. Review the information you have entered. If it is correct, click on Submit to submit your transfer.

How do I send a wire transfer?

To send a wire transfer, please visit a Wells Fargo location. We cannot accept wire instructions through email or fax because your signature is required and must be witnessed by a representative of the bank.

After sending your initial wire, you can initiate other wires over the phone. To initiate wires by phone:

  • Complete a Wire Agreement at the branch and order a personal identification number (PIN). Your PIN will arrive by mail in 10 to 14 business days. You will use this PIN to initiate wires over the phone.
  • If you send wires to the same account number regularly, ask a representative at your branch for a Repetitive Wire Code. Your code number will arrive by mail in 10 to 14 business days. You will use this code to initiate wires over the phone. For each transfer, only the dollar amount of the wire may change.
