What is Wells Fargo Identity Theft Protection?

Wells Fargo Identity Theft Protection (ITP) is an optional product that provides access to daily monitoring of your personal information for potential signs of identity theft. Identity Theft Protection monitors all 3 credit bureaus daily for certain changes and will send you alerts at the first sign of a potential problem.

How will I receive my Identity Theft Protection benefits?

You’ll receive your benefits in one of two ways, depending upon how you purchase Identity Theft Protection:

  • Purchase by Phone – Call 1-877-224-3413 to purchase Identity Theft Protection. If you purchase by phone, you’ll receive your alerts by U.S. Mail.
  • Purchase Online – If you’d like to purchase Identity Theft Protection online, it’s important to use your own valid email address. Alerts will be delivered online and to the email address you provide.

What is Fraud Resolution?

If you become a victim of identity theft, Fraud Resolution is available to guide you through the process of restoring your credit. With Fraud Resolution you’ll get:

  • Personalized support and access to a Fraud Resolution Representative to support you every step of the way and provide on-going assistance through the recovery process.
  • Identity Theft Insurance includes up to $10,000 of insurance coverage in the event you suffer identity theft, but it is only available for identity theft suffered while you are an Identity Theft Protection customer. If you are already a victim of identity theft, prior to becoming an Identity Theft Protection customer, an Insurance Claim will not be available for any out of pocket expenses incurred for that case. However, daily monitoring, notifications, and Fraud Resolution assistance is still available.

What happens if I become a victim of identity theft?

If you have purchased Identity Theft Protection, you can call Customer Service at 1-877-364-9343, Monday – Friday, from 8:00 am – 9:00 pm, Central Time. A Fraud Resolution Representative will assist you with compiling and organizing the paperwork required to document the fraud and help you inform the credit bureaus of the fraudulent transactions, notifying your creditors and financial institutions of the situation, and researching or investigating the potential damage to your identity.

In addition, if you suspect fraudulent activity on your Wells Fargo accounts, you can receive assistance by visiting the Fraud Information Center.

Will purchasing Wells Fargo Identity Theft Protection negatively affect my credit score?

No. Purchasing Wells Fargo Identity Theft Protection won’t affect your credit or credit score.

How will I be notified if there are any changes to my credit information?

If you purchased Wells Fargo Identity Theft Protection, you’ll receive notifications of changes to your credit profile by email if you purchased online or by U.S. Mail if you purchased over the phone.

Are there any additional features offered with Identity Theft Protection?

Wells Fargo Identity Theft Protection also offers these additional features:

  • Credit Report(s) which provides you access to comprehensive personal information from Experian®, Equifax®, and/or TransUnion®. This will help set your baseline to insure your profile is correct. Even without a credit monitoring service, you are entitled by law to a free report every 12 months from each of the three major credit bureaus.
  • PLUS Score(s) are provided periodically and could be a possible indicator that your identity has been compromised or is being used without your knowledge. Your PLUS Score(s) is provided for educational purposes which is calculated on the PLUS Score model and indicates your relative credit status. This isn’t the score used by lenders and can vary from the scores used by lenders (e.g. FICO or VantageScore).
  • Identity Theft Insurance which includes up to $10,000 of insurance coverage in the event you suffer identity theft, but it is only available for identity theft suffered while you are an Identity Theft Protection customer.  If you are already a victim of identity theft, prior to becoming an Identity Theft Protection customer, an Insurance Claim will not be available for any out of pocket expenses incurred for that case. However, daily monitoring, notifications, and Fraud Resolution assistance is still available.
