Why am I getting the error "For Online Access with Wells Fargo You Must Use a Supported Browser"?

You may get this message when attempting to enroll for or access Wells Fargo Online® with an outdated, beta, or newly-released browser. You may also experience this problem after installing new software on your computer.

To find the list of hardware and software requirements, including browsers we support, for Wells Fargo Online, see our hardware and software requirements.

If you receive this error after installing the latest release of your browser, please be aware there may be a delay following a new browser release before we approve it for accessing accounts online. Prior to approval, Wells Fargo insures that new browser releases meet our stringent security standards.

How do I know if my online session is encrypted?

From the moment account information leaves your computer to the time it enters Wells Fargo's system, all online access and Bill Pay sessions are encrypted. Wells Fargo employs some of the strongest forms of encryption commercially available for use on the Web today.

During any transaction, our 128-bit encryption turns your information into a coded sequence with billions of possible variations, making it nearly impossible for unwanted intruders to decipher. Wells Fargo's computers possess the proper formulas to turn this code back into meaningful information and complete your transaction.

Any Web address beginning with "https://..." indicates the page you are viewing uses encryption. The "s" stands for "secured." Every page on wellsfargo.com, whether you have signed on or not, is secure.

What browser settings do I need to use Wells Fargo's website?

Your browser must be able to accept cookies. You will not be able to access any secured pages if you set your privacy setting to Block All Cookies. For instructions on how to set your browser to accept cookies, see Online Troubleshooting.

If you are using Internet Explorer, we also suggest that you set your privacy setting to Medium High or High. Click Tools in the browser tool bar, then Internet Options, then the Privacy tab.

How can I find out more about your privacy policy?

To understand how we use and protect customer information, read our Privacy Policy.

Why do I need to upgrade my browser?

For security reasons, browsers occasionally "expire" their ability to perform sensitive transactions such as Internet banking. In order to maintain our high degree of customer security, Wells Fargo does not allow you to access your accounts online using an expired browser. To continue to access your Wells Fargo account(s) online, some customers will need to upgrade to a newer supported version of their preferred browser.

How do I download and install a new browser?

Before you download a new browser, please make sure that your operating system and the new browser meet the minimum Wells Fargo hardware and software requirements. We also provide simple instructions on how to download and install supported browsers.

What do I do if my new browser is not yet supported?

If you are using the latest release of your browser, please be aware that there may be a delay in our support of the new browser release while we conduct a review to ensure it meets our security standards. We recommend that you download and install a supported browser until the new version is officially supported.
