What is Advanced Access?
Advanced Access is an additional layer of security that safeguards certain transactions and sensitive information. It’s a free service that helps protect your accounts.
When will I need Advanced Access?
To protect your personal information and guard against unauthorized access to your accounts, we may require a code when:
- Accessing certain Wells Fargo accounts or services.
- Sending or receiving money from a non-Wells Fargo account that you haven’t used before or to another person that you haven’t transferred money to before.
How does Advanced Access protect me?
Advanced Access is another way we verify your identity. By asking you to receive a code on your phone, we help prevent anyone other than you from accessing your sensitive information.
Where do I update my Advanced Access phone numbers?
You can update your Advanced Access phone numbers any time you’re signed on by going to Account Services and selecting the Manage Advanced Access link.
What if I don’t have access to any of my Advanced Access phones and I need a code?
Call us at 1-866-609-3037 for help. If you are calling from outside the United States, please use one of our toll-free international access codes.
What if I lose, or no longer have access to, one of my Advanced Access phones?
As long as you can receive a code on one of your Advanced Access phones, you can remove or update your other phone numbers online at any time.
- Sign on, if you haven’t already done so
- Go to Account Services
- Select the Manage Advanced Access link
If you don’t have another Advanced Access phone, you can call us at 1-866-609-3037 and we’ll help update your numbers.
How can I get an Advanced Access code if I’m traveling outside the US?
Call us on one of our toll-free international access codes. We’ll verify your identity and provide the help you need.

How will I know the phone call with my Advanced Access code is really coming from Wells Fargo?
Incoming calls with an Advanced Access code will come from 1-800-956-4442. We recommend adding this number to your phone’s address book so you can quickly identify our calls.
We will also describe what you are doing when we provide your code. For example, we will tell you the code is for completing your transfer. That way, you can confirm that we’re responding to your specific request.
How will I know the text message with my code is really coming from Wells Fargo?
We always send our text messages from 93557. This short code, or short number, is unique to Wells Fargo. We recommend that you add the number to your phone’s address book so you’ll be able to easily identify our text messages.
The short code only indicates the Advanced Access code sender and has no relationship with the Advanced Access code itself.
Can I use an RSA SecurID® device with Advanced Access?
If you have an RSA SecurID device from Wells Fargo, we will give you the option to use a code from your device when Advanced Access is required.
What is an RSA SecurID device and how does it work?
An RSA SecurID device is a small, portable, electronic device that can be attached easily to a keychain. Every 60 seconds the device generates and displays a unique, random numeric passcode. If you have an RSA SecurID® device from Wells Fargo, you can use codes from your device when Advanced Access is required.
What happens if I lose the device?
If you lose your RSA SecurID device, you can request a new device for a one-time charge of $25, which includes shipping and handling. Call 1-866-609-3037 to place your order.
