Protect your ability to pay your Wells Fargo Credit Card account — select the optional Credit Defense Platinum service when you apply.

The Wells Fargo Credit Defense Platinum service will credit a fixed amount (“Benefit Payment (s)”) each month of your benefit period on your Wells Fargo Credit Card account (“Account”) upon activation of the benefit. In the event of involuntary unemployment, disability, or overnight hospitalization (each an “Event”) the service will credit a fixed Benefit Payment amount for up to 12 months. In the event of auto or pet expenses of $250 or greater, or should you move to a new address (each an “Event”), the service will make a Benefit Payment for 1 month. In the event of loss of life, your Account will be credited in the amount of your Account balance on your statement following the date of death. The service applies to primary and joint account cardholders; it does not apply to authorized users. Benefits are subject to certain eligibility requirements, conditions and exclusions which can be found in the Credit Defense Platinum Service Guide.

IMPORTANT DISCLOSURES ABOUT THE WELLS FARGO CREDIT DEFENSE PLATINUM SERVICE.
  • This Product is Optional. Your purchase of the Wells Fargo Credit Defense Platinum service is optional and you are purchasing this product voluntarily. Whether or not you purchase this service will not affect your application for credit or the terms of any existing agreement you may have with Wells Fargo or any affiliate of Wells Fargo.
  • Explanation of Debt Cancellation Contract. Except in the event of loss of life, if your Credit Defense Platinum benefits are activated, we will make the Benefit Payment on your Account as referenced above, subject to your continuing qualification for benefits. The Benefit Payment is a fixed amount based on the statement immediately following the date of the event, whichever is the larger of 4% of the New Balance plus the Credit Defense Platinum fee or the Minimum Payment. In order to activate a Benefit, you will need to contact the Credit Defense Customer Care Team at 1-800-564-8280.
  • Amount of Fee for the Credit Defense Platinum Service. The monthly fee is determined by multiplying the unit cost, which is 39¢ per $100 of your Account balance when your statement is printed. Paying off the entire balance by the payment due date will not prevent a fee from being assessed. The monthly fee will be billed to your Account and will appear in the “Fee” section on your monthly billing statement; however, for the purposes of calculating the Minimum Payment on your Account, the monthly fee is treated as a purchase.
  • Use of Card and Responsibility to Repay. If your Credit Defense Platinum benefits are activated, you will be allowed to continue using your Account; however, any charges incurred following the date of the Event will not be covered and you are responsible for fully repaying all such charges and associated fees and/or interest, if any. The Benefit Payment is a fixed amount based on the statement immediately following the date of the Event; it may not cover the current Minimum Payment on your statement each month during the benefit period. Benefit Payments are only temporary, and you must fully repay the remaining balance on your Account, according to the terms in your Wells Fargo Credit Card Customer Agreement and Disclosure Statement.
  • Termination of the Credit Defense Platinum Service. You have the right to cancel this service at any time. We may cancel this service with no advance notice if: (1) your Account is closed for any reason, (2) your Account becomes 90 days (3 billing cycles) past due; (3) you violate any of the terms and conditions of your Wells Fargo Credit Card Customer Agreement & Disclosure Statement or those contained in the Credit Defense Platinum Service Guide. We may cancel this service with 30 days advance notice to you if: (1) Wells Fargo decides to discontinue offering the Credit Defense Platinum service to all participants; or (2) for any other reason. If you decide to cancel the service and notify the Credit Defense Customer Care Team at 1-800-564-8280 within the first 30 days after your enrollment date, your Account will be credited for any Wells Fargo Credit Defense Platinum fee which has been charged to your Account. If you decide to cancel the service after the first 30 days after your enrollment date, no past fees will be credited to your Account. Unless specifically requested, this service will not be cancelled at the time the Account is closed and the monthly fee will continue to bill to the Account as long as there is an outstanding balance.
  • Eligibility Requirements, Conditions and Exclusions. You should carefully read the provisions contained in the Credit Defense Platinum Service Guide for a full explanation of the terms of the Credit Defense Platinum service. There are eligibility requirements, conditions and exclusions that could prevent you from receiving benefits under the Wells Fargo Credit Defense Platinum service. For example, to qualify for the unemployment benefit you must be employed for a minimum of 3 months as a permanent employee by someone other than yourself or another family member of your household prior to the time of your unemployment occurrence. If you are currently disabled or unemployed, you may not be eligible for disability or unemployment benefits at this time. Also, to be eligible for pet services or auto service benefits, the expense must be $250 or greater.
