Protect yourself against unexpected overdrafts and bounced checks when you sign up for this optional service that links your Wells Fargo Credit Card to your Wells Fargo checking account. If you write a check but don’t have sufficient funds available, we’ll automatically make up the difference with an advance from the available credit on your credit card account.
We'll transfer the exact dollar amount to cover the overdraft, subject to a minimum Overdraft Protection advance amount of $25. If the amount of available credit on your card is less than $25, we'll transfer the amount of the available credit.
To sign up, check the Overdraft Protection box when you apply for your Wells Fargo Credit Card. There’s no fee to enroll, and you're only charged for Overdraft Protection when you use it. See full terms and conditions.
To sign up for Overdraft Protection, you’ll need a Wells Fargo Credit Card and a Wells Fargo Checking Account. Already have both? Sign on to Wells Fargo Online® and access Overdraft Protection through the More menu.
All Wells Fargo Credit Cards are subject to credit qualification. Wells Fargo reserves the right to change terms, rates, and fees at its discretion in accordance with the card agreement and applicable law. Generally, we will apply your minimum payment first to lower APR balances (such as purchases) before balances with higher APRs (such as cash advances). Payments made in excess of the minimum monthly payment will generally be applied to balances with higher APRs first before balances with lower ones.
If you choose to link your Account to your Wells Fargo Checking Account for overdraft protection, please note the following. If you have a joint checking account, you will be responsible for all advances, including interest and charges from your credit card to cover overdrafts regardless of who writes the check, makes the debit card purchase, or engages in any other transaction that causes the overdraft. An Overdraft Protection Advance fee will be charged to your Account each day an Overdraft Protection advance is made, and interest will accrue from the date each advance is made. See Consumer Credit Card Customer Agreement and Disclosure Statement for details. Please note that you may also be able to link your Wells Fargo Savings Account to your Wells Fargo Checking Account for overdraft protection. Overdraft Protection transfers from a Savings account count towards the Regulation D and Wells Fargo combined total limit of 6 transfers and withdrawals per monthly fee period. If the limit is exceeded, an Excess Activity Fee for each transfer or withdrawal will be assessed. If the limit is exceeded on more than an occasional basis, your Savings account could be converted to a Checking account or closed.
If you are not a current Wells Fargo Credit Card customer, you must have an existing Wells Fargo relationship to apply online for a credit card. If you already have another Wells Fargo account besides a checking account, you may apply online for both a credit card and a checking account.
