Incorporating a Wellness Program

Wellness programs reduce costs to both employees and employers by giving plan participants the tools they need to take charge of their health1. These programs deliver a strong return on your investment because they help reduce absenteeism and increase productivity. Many employers use HSAs as vehicles to deliver wellness cash or credit incentives.
A few suggestions to consider when working with a wellness consultant or vendor:
  • Look for a wellness program that includes an annual health risk assessment and biometric testing for your employees. Results of these tests show the health risks you should focus on across your population to improve overall health and reduce company medical expenses over time.
  • Extend your commitment to good health to the choices available at work. Replace soda machines with juice and water and offer healthier options in the company cafeteria.
  • Give employees the option to deposit incentives earned under the wellness program into their HSAs.
