Tim Lavender

Experience highlights

Tim has been providing actuarial and employee benefits consulting since joining BPS&M in 1999, and became a principal of the firm in 2015. Tim focuses on the design, funding, administration, and regulatory compliance of retirement plans. He has served in a variety of leadership roles including student mentor for the firm's actuarial exam program and manager of internal training seminars for the actuarial services group. Tim has worked with governmental entities, not-for-profit and for-profit private employers, and union groups. His clients represent a wide variety of industries including electric utilities, manufacturing, association groups, and educational institutions. Tim uses a breadth of skills to assist his clients in meeting their objectives including actuarial forecasting, plan design analysis, stress testing, experience studies, and communication initiatives. He seeks to understand the unique needs of the client, create and analyze results, and then work alongside the client to reach and implement the solution.

Education and professional designations

Tim graduated, summa cum laude, from Lipscomb University with a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and earned membership in Alpha Chi. Tim is a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries and an Enrolled Actuary.


Tim is a Member of the American Academy of Actuaries.
