Jim DeGrandis

Experience highlights

Jim has more than 25 years of experience in the design, cost analysis, and administration of defined benefit and defined contribution plans. He is responsible for the completion of actuarial valuations, assessments of alternative plan design strategies, outsourced plan benefit administration, asset/liability studies, and providing daily consulting to clients. He is a recognized expert in pension plan termination issues. Prior to joining BPS&M in 1998, he worked for major consulting firms in Boston, New York, Richmond, and Washington, D.C.

Education and professional designations

He received a B.S. in actuarial science from The College of Insurance in New York and an M.B.A. with a concentration in accounting from Mary Washington College. Jim is an Enrolled Actuary and a Certified Employee Benefit Specialist. He has served on the Board of Directors of the Richmond Chapter of the International Foundation of Certified Employee Benefit Specialists. He has been a speaker at the Mid-Size Pension Conference on topics including “Current Trends in the DB Marketplace” and “Life after a Benefit Freeze.”
