What do you do in your role?

I specialize in new construction, working with builders and new developers. I’m in a very active bank branch here in Amarillo that has a great customer base. What’s exciting about our market is we have a very diverse base, as far as builders. When I say that, I mean in terms of ethnicities and gender — we have a lot of very successful female builders in our market.

What do you like about it?

Just the fact it’s something different every day. As anyone in the mortgage business would say, even though we offer predominantly the same products and service, every family has a different set of needs. The reward is in satisfying those needs. In the process, I’ve made great friends. In that regard, it’s very satisfying.

What advice do you have for somebody considering a career as a Home Mortgage Consultant?
The opportunities here, good grief! We’re the number one retail lender in the country now. Wells Fargo has got the process figured out, all the way through processing to closing. I’ve been in this business 34 years and worked with so many different lenders and brokers and guarantee companies, and I’ve never seen a group that’s got it figured out like this company does. I’m a huge fan.

What’s special about working at Wells Fargo?
I have worked with quite a few companies. At Wells Fargo, I think it’s the concern all the way from my level to the top in management, they do want you to succeed. It’s a genuine concern for your success — the tools, the training, the products that they can lay in your lap. The lead generation system that they offer with existing bank customers is without peer.

What type of person does well at Wells Fargo?
Someone who’s comfortable with selling not only the company, but selling themselves. Somebody who’s willing to stay open-minded to new business practices and market approaches. The market changes so quickly.
