Security tools

Alerts

Alerts can help you track your transactions and spot unusual activity. Set up alerts to be notified if anyone makes a purchase or withdrawal on your account — so you can contact us quickly if something doesn’t look right. Here are a few of your options:

  • Online, phone, or mail purchase: Get alerted when anyone uses your card number to make a purchase online, by phone, or through mail order.
  • ATM withdrawal or cash advance: Receive an alert when anyone makes a withdrawal or cash advance on your account at an ATM.
  • Single purchase: Be notified when anyone makes a purchase with your debit or credit card that exceeds an amount you set, such as $100.
You can choose to receive alerts by text, email, or push notification from the mobile app that appears right on your mobile screen.
 
Wells Fargo also monitors your accounts and will notify you when your contact information changes, username or password are updated, or online access is blocked after multiple failed sign-on attempts.
 

Control Tower®

Control Tower provides secure access to your Wells Fargo cards and account information, so you can manage and monitor your digital financial footprint from a single location.

  • Turn your Wells Fargo cards or digital card numbers stored on your devices on or off.
  • View recurring payments with the merchants, payees, and subscription services over the past 12 months. If you lose or replace a card, you can quickly see which merchants you may need to contact to update your new card information.
  • Select which Wells Fargo accounts and statements you want to share with eligible third-party financial services such as Intuit® or XeroTM. Not all third-party services are available for the data-sharing feature.

Turn Card On Or Off

If you misplace your debit, credit, ATM, or prepaid card, you can sign on to online or mobile banking to temporarily turn it off and turn it back on when you find it. While your card is turned off, most types of new card transactions will not be processed, however, transactions such as previously authorized recurring payments, credits, refunds, and reversals may be approved. This feature is also available in Control Tower.

Account Access Manager for Small Business

Account Access Manager enables small business owners to review who has access to their business accounts, remove authorized signers and manage guest users, all through Wells Fargo Business Online®. Be sure to regularly review account access rights and make updates as needed.

Sign on options

2-Step Verification at Sign-On

Activate 2-Step Verification for an additional layer of security when you sign on to online or mobile banking by having Wells Fargo send an access code to your mobile phone. Check that your phone number is correct in online banking so you are able to receive the code.

Facial authentication

Sign on to the Wells Fargo Mobile® app using facial recognition instead of entering your username and password. After you enable the facial recognition feature on your device, follow these instructions to complete activation.


Apple Face ID®

  1. Launch the Wells Fargo Mobile® app
  2. Slide the Set Up Face ID toggle to the right
  3. Enter your username and password and tap Sign On


AndroidTM Biometric Sign-On

  •  Sign on to the Wells Fargo Mobile® app
  • Select Biometric Sign-On from the Profile and Settings menu
  • On the Biometric Sign-On screen, choose Enable Biometric Sign-On


Wells Fargo does not store your facial image.

Fingerprint authentication

Use your fingerprint to sign on to the Wells Fargo Mobile® app instead of entering your username and password. After you enable the fingerprint recognition feature on your mobile device, follow these instructions to complete activation:

Apple Touch ID®

  1. Launch the Wells Fargo Mobile® app
  2. Slide the Set Up Touch ID toggle to the right
  3. Enter your username and password and tap Sign On

AndroidTM Fingerprint

  1. Sign on to the Wells Fargo Mobile® app
  2. Select Fingerprint Sign On from the Profile and Settings menu
  3. Within Fingerprint Sign On settings, select Enable Fingerprint Sign On and choose Save

Wells Fargo does not store your fingerprint.

Voice Verification

Voice Verification allows us to identify you by your voice when calling customer service. Whether you want to use our automated phone service or speak with a banker, Voice Verification is a secure and convenient way for customers to access their accounts over the phone.

To activate Voice Verification call 1-800-869-3557 for consumers or 1-800-225-5935 for small businesses. Follow the instructions or select option 0 and ask a banker how to get started.
