Overview

1. What is an Online Check Image?
An online check image is a digital copy of a check you wrote that has posted to your checking or savings account. Back to Top
2. How do I view an Online Check Image?
There are two ways to view your checks online, depending on whether you’re enrolled for online banking access to your accounts:
  • If you already have online banking access, sign on as usual to get access to online check images. Go to Account Activity and click View next to the check you would like to see.
  • If you’re not enrolled for online banking access, we’ll ask you to provide your Social Security number, ATM PIN, and account number to authenticate your identity before allowing you to view your checks online. We’ll also ask you for an email address so we can notify you if one of your requested check images is not yet available. Get started now. Select your account and search for the check by the date it posted and by the check number or dollar amount. View a check by selecting the View Now link.

3. Why do I need Online Check Images?
It’s faster than requesting a paper copy of a check you’ve written. You can view a copy of your check online immediately, while it can take up to 10 business days to receive a paper copy by mail.Back to Top
4. Do all accounts offer Online Check Images?
Currently, online check images are available for business and personal checking accounts, Premium Market Rate Accounts (PMA), and some savings accounts with check writing features.Back to Top

6. What if I am not enrolled in the Wells Fargo Business Online® Banking service?
You don’t need to be enrolled in the Wells Fargo Business Online Banking service to view your checks. If you are not enrolled for online access, you can still view checks online, but you will need to enter your Social Security number, Business or Personal ATM PIN, and account number.Back to Top
7. Is there a charge for viewing Online Check Images?

8. When do images of my checks become available online?
If the check number is displayed in account activity, then the check has already posted to your account. And, if the check number is displayed in account activity, then the check image can be accessed after 7:00 a.m.

For example, if you have a check transaction that posts on your Account Activity screen on Tuesday, the check image will be available after 7:00 a.m. local time that day (Tuesday).

Please note: Online Check Images are not available from Saturday 10:00 p.m. Pacific Time to Sunday 2:00 a.m. Pacific Time so that our images systems can be updated.Back to Top
9. Will I continue to receive paper copies of my checks if I view them online?
Yes, if you receive your cancelled checks along with your monthly statement, you will continue to do so.Back to Top

11. Has my check posted?
To determine whether a check has posted, sign on to your Wells Fargo Business Online Banking session and look for the check number in your Account Activity.

Requesting and searching for check images

12. How do I search for a check?
If you already have online access, sign on. Click Request Copies from the Account Activity page. Then:
  • Select the account from which the check was written issued.
  • Enter the first date that this check might have posted and enter a range from that date.
  • Enter either a check number (or range of check numbers) or the dollar amount of the check (or range of dollar amounts) to complete the search for your check.
  • View a check by selecting the View Now link.

If you’re not enrolled for online access, start here. Enter your Social Security number, Business or Personal ATM PIN, account number, and email address. A “Search for a Check” screen will display. Follow the instructions above.

You can search for more than one check at a time.Back to Top
13. My check image is not available to view online. How can I get a copy?
If you search for a check and we inform you that your check is not available to view online, there is no digital copy of the check available. You may request a paper copy and will receive a copy of the check via U.S. Mail. Your copy will be mailed to you within 10 business days.Back to Top
14. Why can’t I search for checks by the payee’s name or the date I wrote on the check?
Checks are filed based on date posted, dollar amount and check number. Back to Top
15. How do I get a copy of a check that posted prior to July 26, 2002?
A paper copy of a check posted prior to July 26, 2002 can be sent to you via USPS mail. If you already have online banking access, sign on. Go to Account Activity and click on Request Copies:
  • Select the account the check was written from.
  • Enter the first date that this check might have posted and enter a range from that date.
  • Enter either a check number (or range of check numbers) or the dollar amount of the check (or range of dollar amounts) to complete the search for your check.

16. Can I see an online copy of a check returned due to insufficient funds in my account?
No, if your check is returned to the payee due to insufficient funds, it does not post to your account and therefore there will not be an image for the check.Back to Top

Printing and saving your check images

18. How do I save my check image?
Windows users:
  • Position your cursor over the copy you want to save.
  • Click the right button on your mouse.
  • Select Save Picture As.
  • Choose a location on your hard drive to save your copy.
  • Click Save.

Macintosh users:
  • Position your cursor over the copy you want to save.
  • Click and hold down the mouse button.
  • Select Download Image to Disk.
  • Choose a location on your hard drive to save your copy.
  • Click Save.

To view a saved check image:
Locate the saved image on your computer and double-click the file name to view. Select a Web browser from the list of available programs and click Continue. Back to Top
19. How do I print my check image?
A printer friendly version of the check image will automatically print when you print the image from your browser. To print copy of the check:
  • Click File on your browser.
  • Select Print.
  • Select OK.

20. Can I still order a paper copy of a check through the mail?
Paper copies of checks posted prior to July 26, 2002 will be sent through the mail. Paper copies of checks that posted on or after July 26, 2002 are not available through Wells Fargo Business Online Banking service. You may request a paper copy from the Wells Fargo Phone BankSM or your nearest branch. Fees may apply for paper copies.Back to Top
