What is the Wells Fargo Business Debit Card?

Your Wells Fargo Business Debit Card provides you with an easy and convenient way to make business purchases and payments using your business checking account funds. You can use it to make purchases and bill payments at millions of merchant locations and service providers worldwide, online, and by phone. Purchases are deducted from your primary-linked business checking account, so you won't incur credit card debt or fees. Your card also provides you access to Wells Fargo ATMs and ATMs in networks in which Wells Fargo participates worldwide.

Is this card a credit card?

No, your business debit card is not a credit card. With this card, the funds for purchases come from your business checking account.

Do you offer a temporary debit card that I can use while my business debit card is being sent to me?

You can request a business instant issue debit card at any store location.  This temporary debit card is in effect for 30 days from the time it is issued, or until you activate the permanent card you receive by mail, whichever occurs first.  With a business instant issue debit card, you can make purchases and payments, and use the ATM, with the same access you have with your permanent card. Can I view purchases or payments I make with the business debit card online?

Yes. With Wells Fargo Business Online®, you have access to your account anytime, anywhere. You can view checking and savings account transactions, check balances, transfer funds, and more. Plus, you can download account data directly into most major financial accounting software.

What if I have a dispute with a merchant?

The first step is to try and resolve the dispute directly with the merchant. If those efforts fail, call 1-800-225-5935 to make a claim and we will investigate it. Please refer to the appropriate account agreement for details regarding your responsibility to notify us of disputes within specific time frames.

What if my card is lost or stolen?

Simply call us toll-free at 1-800-225-5935, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, as soon as you notice your card is lost or stolen, or if you notice unauthorized use on your account.

Are my accounts protected if there is unauthorized use of my card?

Yes, your card also comes with Zero Liability protection at no extra cost, which means you are not responsible for unauthorized card transactions as long as you report them promptly.

What is a chip card?

It is card that has a chip on the front as well as the traditional magnetic stripe on the back. The chip provides added security when used at a chip-enabled terminal or ATM and greater global acceptance. Many countries worldwide have adopted chip technology, and it will become the standard for card payments in the U.S. If a merchant or ATM has not yet adopted chip technology, your transaction will be processed using the magnetic stripe as it is today. How do I apply for a business debit card?

If you already have a Wells Fargo Business Checking account, talk to a local Wells Fargo banker or call 1-800-225-5935 for a business debit card.

If you don’t have a business checking account, you can apply now and request a business debit card.

How do I activate my business debit card?

When you receive your card, call the toll-free phone number on the sticker attached to the front. You can also activate the card by using it with your Personal Identification Number (PIN) at a Wells Fargo ATM. After the card is activated, peel off the sticker and sign the signature panel on the back immediately.

How do I use my business debit card to make purchases?

Looking to learn more about how to use a debit card? When you present your card at checkout, you may be asked to sign for a purchase or enter your Personal Identification Number (PIN) to complete the transaction. You may have the choice of completing the transaction as a “debit” or “credit” transaction. Either option is acceptable. When you use your business debit card, the funds for the purchase come out of your primary linked business checking account (and if needed, your overdraft protection account).

Can I use my business debit card overseas?

Yes, you can use your business debit card while traveling outside the United States*. Remember to notify Wells Fargo before you travel so that we can monitor your accounts appropriately. Get more ideas for how to use your debit card overseas.

How can I pay bills using my business debit card?

You can make one-time payments by phone, online, or by mail using your business debit card. When you pay with your card, you can make payments even up to the last minute on the payment due date. What are my daily purchase and ATM cash withdrawal limits?

Your business debit card comes with a daily limit on the total dollar amount of purchases you can make with your card. Your card also has a daily ATM cash withdrawal limit, which is the total dollar amount of cash you can withdraw from the ATM from one or any combination of checking or savings accounts in a day. Your daily purchase and cash withdrawal limits are printed on the materials that come with your card. How are my business purchases protected?

Your Wells Fargo Business Debit Card comes with Zero Liability protection at no extra cost. You are not responsible for unauthorized purchases or ATM transactions as long as you report them promptly.

Your card also comes with two Visa services to help protect your purchases. With Visa® Purchase Security, if items you buy with your business debit card are lost, stolen, or accidentally damaged, they’ll be replaced or repaired at no charge to you. With Visa Extended Warranty Protection, you can extend manufacturer’s warranties, up to one additional year, on items you purchase with your card.

When do debit card transactions post to my account?

Wells Fargo cannot post your debit card transaction until the merchant submits the transaction to us for payment. A few things to keep in mind:

  • The timing can vary for debit card transactions from the very same day to several days later.
  • In rare circumstances — such as using your debit card online to buy an item that’s back ordered — the merchant could submit the transaction several weeks later.
  • Because of this, it’s important you keep track of your account balances.

Can I customize the design of my business debit card?

Yes, now you have two easy ways to customize the look of your business card.

  1. At a Wells Fargo banking location: You can select from a catalog of images to place on your new or replacement card. You should receive your card within 5-7 calendar days of selecting an image.
  2. On the business debit card homepage: It's easy to design your card using the Card Design Studio® service in online banking. You can customize your card using your own image or logo, or select an image from our online library.
