Services to help avoid overdrafts or declined transactions

Spending more than you have in your business checking account may cause an overdraft, returned item, or declined transaction.

We offer two overdraft services to help you manage your checking account – Overdraft Protection and Debit Card Overdraft Service. Both services are optional and can be added or removed at any time. Overdraft Protection allows Wells Fargo to automatically transfer available funds in your linked accounts to pay business transactions if you don’t have enough money in your checking account.

Debit Card Overdraft Service helps avoid debit card declines by authorizing the bank, at its discretion, to approve ATM and everyday (one-time) debit card transactions if the amount of the transaction exceeds the available balance in the checking account (or in accounts linked for Overdraft Protection). Business checking accounts (with the exception of IOLTA, RETA and Government accounts) are automatically enrolled in Debit Card Overdraft Service when the account is opened. You can choose to remove this service or re-enroll an eligible account at any time.

If you are enrolled in both services, we will first use Overdraft Protection – which has a lower fee – to cover your overdraft.

Add or delete Debit Card Overdraft Service and link your eligible savings and credit accounts to your business checking account for Overdraft Protection online by accessing Add or Change Overdraft Services through Account Services in the More menu within Wells Fargo Business Online® or you can call your banker.
