Wells Fargo and Military Warriors Support Foundation say Happy Holidays to Military Veterans with Home Donations at College Bowl Games

DES MOINES - December 16, 2013

Wells Fargo and the Military Warriors Support Foundation(MWSF) will spread holiday cheer to military veterans by announcing home donations during eight college bowl games. The nationally-televised games will take place, Dec. 21 – Jan. 1, 2014 and air on ESPN and its family of networks.

These property donations contribute to a commitment Wells Fargo made on Veteran’s Day last year to donate $30 million in bank owned homes to veterans over three years. More than half of that commitment has already been met. In 2013, Wells Fargo has donated nearly 80 homes that were awarded to veterans.

In addition to donating over $1.1 million in real estate at the bowl games, Wells Fargo will contribute $65,000 to Military Warriors Support Foundation for program support.

Wells Fargo and the Military Warriors Support Foundation are committed to helping veterans who have been wounded while serving their country. Wells Fargo donates homes to MWSF for use in their Homes 4 Heroes program. The MWSF refers families for donations and they are expected to participate in financial education and to remain in the home for five years.

“What better gift for the holidays than a mortgage-free home?” said JK Huey, SVP, Wells Fargo Home Mortgage. “We are proud to work with the MWSF on the Homes4WoundedHeroes program as a way to support our veterans who have bravely served our country.”

“With support from our partnership banks, the Military Warriors can help America’s heroes and their families make a fresh start in homes of their own,” said Lt. Gen. Leroy Sisco USA (Ret.), MWSF chief executive officer.

“Veterans who sustained severe injuries while serving our country in Iraq and Afghanistan deserve more than our thanks. That’s why MWSF provides homes and a comprehensive homeowner education and mentoring program to help the transition to civilian life which the contributions will directly support.”
