Team Member Philanthropy

Wells Fargo has a proud history of supporting communities. That spirit has been part of our culture since we opened our doors more than 160 years ago, and we’ll continue to be responsible and active members of our communities because it’s part of our Vision and Values.

Our team members are leaders. They give their time to teach money management skills, build homes, mentor youth, fundraise and serve on nonprofit boards. In 2013, 55,600 team members recorded more than 1.69 million volunteer hours in our My Volunteer Time tracking tool, a 13% increase from 2012. This is equivalent to giving $38.1 million to support our communities. (Source: Independent Sector’s 2013 Dollar Value of a Volunteer Hour, which is stated as $22.55 per volunteer hour).

Annual Community Support Campaign
Each year during the month of September, Wells Fargo team members donate financially to the nonprofits of their choice, during the Community Support and United Way Campaign. In 2013, our team members donated a record total of $89 million to nonprofits including $64.9 million pledged during the annual campaign. In addition, the Wells Fargo Community Support and United Way Campaign has been named the largest workplace campaign in the U.S. in 2013, according to United Way Worldwide. This is the fifth consecutive year Wells Fargo has earned this top honor.

Wells Fargo also matches individual team members’ financial contributions to eligible schools and educational foundations dollar-for-dollar, up to $5,000 per person, per calendar year. In 2013, the company matched over $20 million of team members’ donations to schools.

Volunteerism
Each year our team members volunteer their time and talent at thousands of nonprofits across the country, and around the world. One of the most important contributions our team members make is using their professional skills and knowledge to help nonprofits with business and organizational projects such as building a website, fundraising or training volunteers.
