Senior Executive Vice President Pat Callahan is the Chief Administrative Officer managing Corporate Communications, Corporate Social Responsibility, Enterprise Marketing, and Government Relations. She oversees the company’s brand, communications, reputation management, and stakeholder engagement efforts. In addition, Callahan successfully led the largest, most complex banking merger in U.S. history, providing oversight and strategic direction for the merger of Wells Fargo and Wachovia Corporation.
A 36-year veteran of the company, Callahan has served as head of Compliance and Enterprise Risk Management, providing regulatory compliance oversight for the company. Before that, she was head of Human Resources for Wells Fargo since the company’s merger with Norwest in 1998. Before the merger, she was head of Wells Fargo’s Wholesale Banking Systems, Finance and Operations, and head of Human Resources from 1993 to 1997.
Callahan began her banking career at Crocker National Bank and held management positions in operations, finance, and commercial real estate. In 1984, she was promoted to senior vice president and manager of Corporate Services. When Crocker merged with Wells Fargo, she became division manager of Wholesale Operations and Systems, and served on the company’s Corporate Responsibility Committee. In 1991, she assumed responsibility for systems, operations, and finance for the Real Estate Group.
Callahan is an advisor to Wells Fargo’s Enterprise Diversity & Inclusion Council. She is a member of the MIT Corporation, the University’s board of trustees. She also serves on the board of directors of The Marine Mammal Center in Marin, Calif.
Callahan graduated from Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where she earned her bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering and her master’s degree in management/finance.
